Purchases are made immediately without tax component, saving you the hassle of having to queue and file for VAT refund.
Currently there are 2 DFS locations in Singapore – one at Singapore Changi International Airport (within customs area & transit), the other is located downtown at Scotts Road, another upmarket shopping street off Orchard Road within the same area.
At Changi Airport, for tourists you can make purchases at the DFS located at the departure hall. You may depart off with your purchases without using or consuming them at the airport. Alternatively, you may also opt to shop at the DFS at Scotts Road during your stay in Singapore.
For Singaporeans, simply make your purchases at the arrival hall upon landing, and take your purchases home.
